Job Summary:
Under limited supervision, responsible for independently applying clinical laboratory techniques in the performance of test procedures to provide data used in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Job Duties:
- Assists in the daily operations of the laboratory, exercising good judgement and responsibility in all areas of testing. Troubleshoots technical/non-technical problems of a highly complex nature.
- Reviews and documents quality control data and performs corrective action on failed tests. Reviews all quality assurance data and generates the appropriate reports for review.
- Provides supervision to entry level staff and manages the laboratory in the Supervisor's absence. Assigns duties to laboratory staff.
- Secures media and supplies for clinical testing and research studies and manages supply requests.
- Assists in the review and revision of laboratory policies and procedures and in the preparation for laboratory inspections by various regulatory/accrediting agencies.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in related field required.
Experience:
- Five (5) years’ experience is required.
Additional Licenses and Certifications:
- Certified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologist or equivalent.
