The Phlebotomist verifies the patient's identity, collects blood safely, and labels accurately to ensure efficient blood processing in the Donor Center. Provides superior patient care. The phlebotomist utilizes manual and automated methods in a hospital setting and strictly follows standard operating procedures. Follows all health and safety protocols and procedures to maintain sanitary work areas.
Perform personal interviews and physical screenings of blood donors to obtain medical histories in accordance with FDA and current good manufacturing practice criteria.
Properly identify donors according to policy and collect whole blood products.
Perform apheresis procedures using equipment according to standard operating procedures, current good manufacturing practices, and package inserts.
Manufacture blood components from whole blood collection following standard operating procedures, current good manufacturing practices, and package inserts.
Prepare, order, and send out blood samples for required testing.
Perform and review all quality control processes following standard operating procedures.
Collaborate with team members to meet donation goals and ensure donor satisfaction. Perform other duties as assigned by the Transfusion Manager.

EDUCATION:
High School Degree or equivalent required
EXPERIENCE:
Two (2) years experience as a phlebotomist.
Minimum of one (1) year experience in a donor or plasma center.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
CPT Certified Phlebotomy Tech Preferred
