Under direct supervision, responsible for providing technical skills in organizing and performing various medical laboratory procedures and clinical laboratory techniques.
Responsibilities
Performs routine laboratory procedures recognizing deviation from expected results.
Analyzes and corrects problems with the assistance of more senior personnel.
Performs Quality Control and calibrations on instruments.
Performs weekly preventative maintenance on laboratory instruments and equipment.
Accessions samples for in-house testing and referral laboratory testing.
Secures media and supplies for clinical testing or research studies and manages supply requests.
Assists in the review and revision of laboratory policies and procedures and in the preparation for laboratory inspections by various regulatory/accrediting agencies.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Excellent customer service for both internal and external customers.
Knowledge of general laboratory, safety and quality control, principles, techniques, and terminology, and use of complex medical equipment.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work in a Laboratory Information System.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in related field required.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION:
Certified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologist or equivalent within 2 years of hire.
